     Lois Corrine Fiala 82, Lincoln, died peacefully at home Friday (03/07/08) surrounded by her loving husband and family, following a courageous fight with lung cancer. Born June 23, 1925 to Arthur & Ella (Westergreen) Beattie at Chesterton, Ind. and became the adopted daughter of Otto Fleming. Member: First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Graduated Osceola High School; retired from State Farm Insurance Co., Lincoln; and Gering National Bank. Co-founder, with husband John L. Fiala, of the Miss Czech-Slovak USA Pageant in 1987 held annually in Wilbur during the Czech Festival. Enjoyed traveling; craftwork; being God's servant; and spending time with her grandchildren and friends.
       Survived by: husband of 57 years, John; daughter-in-law, Janet Fiala, Lincoln; grandchildren, Chris; John; and Lisa Fiala, all of Lincoln; Adele Fiala, Scottsbluff; two great-grandchildren, Kylee and Adrik, Scottsbluff; three god children, Kristine Williams, Culver City, Calif.; Julie Cleaver, Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Michael Streng, Prescott, Valley, Ariz.; nephew, Wayne Knippel & wife Barbara, Tacoma, Wash.; cousins and special friends, Herb & Marylou Streng, Daytona Beach, Fla.; Jerry & Lorraine David, Montgomery, Minn.; and many other caring and loving friends. Preceded in death by son, Stephen Jon Fiala; parents; and step-father.
     Services: 1 p.m. Saturday (03/22/08), First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1551 S. 70th Street, Lincoln, with Pastor Brian Maas presiding. Cremation. Private family internment: Forest Lawn Cemetery, Omaha.

      In lieu of flowers, memorials to church; American Cancer Society; Hospice of Tabitha Home; or donors choice. Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, Lincoln, is in charge of arrangements.
